FREE RADICALS & OXIDATIVE DAMAGE /

Free radicals are imbalanced molecules that need another electron to achieve a balanced state. To get balanced, free radicals scavenge an electron from any readily available source, including balanced molecules. Free radicals can cause damage to cell membranes, killing cells in your body or damaging DNA, which can cause or exacerbate many different diseases. This damage can also accelerate the aging process and is called oxidative damage.

Where do free radicals come from? Our modern world and lifestyles can increase free radical levels in your body and in the environment. The following—among other factors—increase the levels of free radicals that your body has to contend with:
  • Increased stress levels
  • Higher BMIs
  • Lack of sleep
  • Pollution
  • UV radiation
  • Smoking
